The traditional Mid-Autumn Festival of 2022 is coming soon. Dashou families gather together to celebrate the festival in advance as usual.

"Zhong Qiu Jie", which is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. It is a time for family members and loved ones to congregate and enjoy the full moon. This festival is to celebrate the harvest and to enjoy the beautiful moon light. To some extent, it is like Thanks Giving day in western countries. On this day, people usually get together with their families and have a nice meal. After that, people always eat delicious moon cake, and watch the moon.

As we are in Xiamen, we have a special custom which called “Moon-Cake Gambling” to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. The game player throw the dice by turns. Different Pips they count win the player a relevant “title” and corresponding type of prizes. The lucky player who get the pips to make it the title of “Zhuangyuan”, will be the biggest winner in the game, and get the biggest prize. And people believe that who win the title of “Zhuangyuan” will have good luck in the next year.

After the “Moon-Cake Gambling”, Dashou families have delicious dinner together, we all enjoy the night.
